The Deputy German Ambassador Engages with IISMA Program Participants, Offering Support in Pre-Departure Preparations for Students

A total of 55 students from various universities in Indonesia seized the opportunity to partake in a semester of lectures at esteemed German universities through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) Program.

Before their departure, the Deputy German Ambassador to Indonesia, Thomas Graf, conducted an online meeting with the students to offer support and share crucial information prior to their commencement of studies in Germany.

"In 2023, over 50 exceptional students from Indonesia will pursue studies in Germany with the backing of IISMA scholarships. We are delighted that German higher education institutions once again have the privilege of participating in this esteemed program," expressed Thomas.

He further disclosed that the German Embassy in Indonesia, in collaboration with its partners, is committed to enhancing cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in the realm of higher education. Presently, more than five thousand Indonesian students are enrolled in German universities, solidifying Germany's position as one of the top five preferred study destinations for Indonesian students.

"To all IISMA 2023 awardees, I wish for your time in Germany to be both valuable and inspirational," he conveyed to the students.

During this occasion, the representative of the German Embassy to Indonesia provided an explanation about the education system in Germany. The students also received various pieces of information related to preparations for their departure, serving as guidance before they embark on their studies at their respective destination universities.

“We are delighted that a substantial number of students participating in the IISMA Program will be pursuing studies in Germany. I hope to see an increasing number of students and universities in Germany engaging in this program," added the Director of DAAD Jakarta, Guido Schnieder.

Participants in the IISMA Program, with the objective of studying in Germany, will commence their departures on the specified date to begin their semester of study. Rachmat Sriwijaya, the Head of the IISMA Program, expressed appreciation for the support from the German Embassy in executing this program, which benefits not only the students but also the universities.

“We extend our gratitude for the support from the German Embassy. This attention is crucial for fortifying the IISMA Program and establishing a strategic partnership between IISMA and German universities in the future," expressed Rachmat.
