Ministry of Education and Culture Collaborates with Huawei to Harness AI and Cloud Technologies, Elevating Education Quality in Society 5.0

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology's Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) recently entered into a collaboration with Huawei to optimize the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and cloud services in the national education system. Through this cooperation, Huawei is considered as a key partner in terms of technological investment, capable of assisting the government in providing the latest learning technology in Indonesia.

Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nizam stated that Huawei as the government's technology partner in education will boost efficiency as technological future growth.

"The Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research appreciates Huawei's continuous contribution as the government's technology partner in education to encourage the functions and features of AI technology and cloud services to be a major part of the future growth of education as technological innovation in education has the ability to boost efficiency and production," said Prof. Dr. Ir. Nizam in his opening speech at Huawei Techday 2023.

The growing application of artificial intelligence (AI) in numerous fields is now attempting to be merged in the realm of education. AI technology can assist educators in examining and analyzing big data linked to learning and job automation assistance. This data analysis serves as the foundation for higher education providers when developing curriculum or advising the best course of action for students to improve their abilities.

The existence of AI assists students in more successfully and efficiently navigating the pace of their educational life. While studying, students can identify and manage their limitations. Furthermore, AI can assist in managing the fraction of autonomous learning based on student interests that are aligned with the conventional college education curriculum.

Meanwhile, cloud services serve as a platform for collaborative learning activities, allowing students to collaborate on tasks. Cloud technology has a significant impact on student’s teamwork and communication abilities, which are important qualities when entering the job.

On the same day, Vice President of Huawei Indonesia, James Sun stated "Huawei's technology investment in Indonesia has the potential to significantly improve the quality of the education system. Using Huawei's AI technology innovation and cloud services, the government can achieve education policy aims and goals while enhancing the lives of the younger generation."

Huawei Techday 2023 is a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Directorate General of Higher teaching and Huawei, which serves as a venue for teaching and socialization of the use of ICT solutions in higher education.

Huawei Techday had 200 participants, including students and professional instructors. The students were able to participate in an AI application training program given by Huawei Asean Academy Indonesia as part of the implementation of Huawei's commitment pillar 'I Do Contribute' which seeks to generate 100,000 ICT talents in Indonesia by 2025. More than 80,000 ICT personnel have received training, debriefing, and certification from Huawei until now.

The Ministry of Education and Culture also recognized the winners of the Huawei Global ICT Competition from Bandung Institute of Technology and Telkom University at this event. A panel discussion titled "Utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Potential, Challenges, and Opportunities" was also held at Huawei Techday 2023. Speakers from the Ministry of Education and Culture, the State Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Huawei, and KORIKA participated in this discussion.
