PMM  2 is one of the featured programs from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology. The program was created for college students so they could use their rights to learn outside their study field and their University.

The purpose of this PMM 2 Program is to escalate the ability of the University to manage students exchange programs, it also acts as a stimulus for creating new internalization and development of a similar program, or enhancing cross-college collaboration.

Whilst for the students, PMM 2 Programs expected to be able to give the students a fresh view  and strengthen their viewpoint so they would respect and commemorate Indonesia's diversity as one of the advantages of unifying the nation and state. Besides  that, the students are also being expected  to broaden and deepen their knowledge within the academic sector.

“The key element to PMM 2 management, besides students exchange programs from one island to the others. This program also explores the diversity of Indonesia through the Nusantara Module”. Said Dirjen Diktiristek, Nizam.

Meanwhile, PMM 2 also has a new characteristic in creating a dynamic meeting space between Students, Lecturer, and University through an academic activity and a non-academic activity regarding the region's cultural diversity.  In fact, PMM 2 will give students the freedom to choose courses at different universities in different locations, outside of their place of residence and their original campus domicile.

In addition, PMM 2 carries out Nusantara Module activities as a special character. The Nusantara module includes exploration activities for cultural, religious, and historical diversity in higher education areas (Diversity); seek inspiration from local inspiration figures (Inspiration); conduct collective reflection through discussions, talk shows, documentation, and writing (Reflection); and initiate social activities for the community (Social Contribution) through various activities.

Through PMM 2, universities will also receive support in achieving Key Performance Indicators and receive financial assistance for managing PMM 2. Meanwhile, lecturers for the Nusantara module will receive certificates of appreciation and incentives in developing the Nusantara Module. Lecturers who teach courses will have the opportunity to disseminate their scientific competencies at the national level.

PMM 2 has taken various strategic steps to continue the success of PMM Batch 1 (in 2021) which has succeeded in facilitating more than 11,000 students and 251 universities throughout Indonesia. These steps include:

(1) Selecting universities that will accept students;

(2) Provide technical guidance to PMM 2 managers at the tertiary level, both in program management and in developing the archipelago module; and

(3) Students can choose a college; when choosing, students will find out what study programs are offered by universities that are listed as recipient universities.
