Improving Artificial Intelligence Capabilities of Higher Education, The Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology Holds AI Center Utilization Training

The Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology held AI Center Utilization Training on Thursday (16/6) in Jakarta. The training, which was attended by various representatives from universities, was officially opened by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology represented by the Head of the Administrative Subdivision of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology,  Didi Rustam.

In his written remarks, Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Tjitjik Srie Tjahjandarie, explained that Artificial Intelligence or known as a form of computing technology that is useful in facilitating various lines of life in the present and or in the future.

"This training is a form of support and facilitation for universities to develop digital talents and increase the ability and competitiveness of universities in mastering technology, especially related to Artificial Intelligence," said Tjitjik.

On the same occasion, Head of the Administrative Subdivision of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Didi Rustam explained that the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology recently launched the Dikti Artificial Intelligence Center (Dikti AI Center), which is a high-capacity computing server facility that can be used openly by universities in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Didi Rustam explained that the supercomputer facility owned by the Directorate General of Higher Education has a computing capacity of 25 PetaFLOPS. This facility is highly qualified for the development of Artificial Intelligence. The procurement of the Dikti AI Center supercomputer facility is used to strengthen the creation of national AI talents through various training and educational activities in collaboration with industry within the framework of “Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka”. This facility can also be utilized by universities and partners to produce innovations in the AI technology field to answer the needs of industry and society.

The AI ​​Center Utilization Training was attended by the Center of Excellence in Higher Education Science and Technology (PUI-PT), including PUI-PT Smart System of Universitas Gadjah Mada, PUI-PT Smart Biomedic of Universitas Airlangga, and PUI-PT Smart City and Community of  Institut Teknologi Bandung. In addition, this training was also attended by delegates from various Public Colleges and Private Colleges including the Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Universitas Hasanuddin, Bina Nusantara University, Bina Darma University, Pembangunan Jaya University, Kristen Satya Wacana University, and Statistical Polytechnic of STIS.
