Jakarta – IISMA releases the departure of the awardees this week on two consecutive occasions. The first release was the combined release of four universities in England, America, and Canada which dispatched 45 awardees who received Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) scholarships to study for one semester at Newcastle University, England (10 students), University of British Columbia, America (10 students), University of Waterloo, Canada (15 students), and to Western University, Canada (10 students). They officially departed on September 11, 2022 at 16.00 WIB. This departure is the last departure for America and Canada and the first for the UK. The day after that on 12 September 2022 At 12.30 WIB, IISMA again dispatched 19 students to the University of Edinburgh Scotland, England.
The release was attended online by the Head of the IISMA 2022 Program, representatives from the student's home university, and parents of the awardees, as well as students who attended from terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta Airport while waiting for the plane boarding process. This release is a routine ceremony held by IISMA which aims to provide direct direction to students who are about to go to their respective destination universities. The briefings delivered from various parties are expected to be one of the main provisions and guidance for students to be able to adapt and undergo the program well.
In the IISMA Program, students can get credit recognition for courses equivalent to 20 credits outside of their study program in accordance with MBKM policies. This was stated by Plt. Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Diktiristek, Kemendikbudristek, Sri Gunani Partiwi. “The activities taken are equivalent to 20 credits. These programs have a role so that students really recognize their will, ability and passion. Thus, when students graduate they not only get a diploma, but also accompanied by a portfolio of all activities," he concluded.
On this occasion, Rachmat Sriwijaya addressed the students that they were 64 of the best 1150 Indonesian sons and daughters who were selected to study in America, England and Canada which are developed countries in the world which are well organized educationally and a lot of knowledge is produced there. “You will study with people whose books have been used as references on campus. In addition to studying, you need to learn about the progress and good things in the country to practice in Indonesia. Study well. This is a test and a battle for you, whether you are able to become a world leader in the future. As all of you are now a big family, togetherness, mutual attention and empathy need to be maintained. These 64 students will be an extraordinary team in building Indonesia. This is a big investment by the Indonesian government to encourage the birth of global leaders,” he concluded.
Remarks from university representatives represented by Suryani Halim, Head of the International Affairs Office of Ciputra University and Parhimpunan Simatupang from KUI Prasetiya Mulya University, congratulated the award recipients and left a few messages so that they could introduce our culture which is generous, highly creative, good at presenting themselves, and always contribute to the development of the world. In line with that, Gusaimas Matahachiro Hanggoro Himawan Akbar and Fransiskus Xaverius Bertrand Kosasih on behalf of the students asked for blessings and thanked them for the opportunity given in this IISMA program so that they could achieve their dreams.
